Women’s Treatments
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT)
is a treatment to relieve symptoms of menopause.
But if you find your lack of desire for sex is distressing or it’s affecting your relationship, it’s a good idea to get help.
It replaces hormones that are at a lower level as you approach menopause.
Menopause is a natural part of ageing that usually occurs between 45 and 55 years of age, as a woman’s oestrogen levels decline.
Most women will experience menopausal symptoms. Some of these can be quite severe and have a significant impact on your everyday activities.
Common symptoms include:
- Hot flushes
- Night sweats
- Vaginal dryness and discomfort during sex.
- Difficulty sleeping
- Low mood and anxiety
- Reduced sex drive
- Problems with memory and concentration
The main benefit of HRT is that it can help relieve most menopausal symptoms described above along with helping prevent fractures caused by osteoporosis (thinning bones) . It also makes some women less likely to have heart disease and dementia.
